ATP (Conservatory Acting Track) is for the career-bound acting student. It is modeled after a variety of other conservatory-based (all-inclusive, taught by professionals) training programs. It includes modules on acting, singing, modern dance, tap dance, ballet, voice & speech for the actor, Shakespeare, text analysis, scene study, acting styles, movement for the actor, mask work and a variety of other topics. This is a rigorous program with a backstage crew requirement. Many ATP graduates go on to professional conservatories (such as the American Conservatory Theatre) or top-tier universities (UCLA, NYU, Yale). The ATP is designed to get our graduates into programs that create career actors.
Actor Training Program Online Application for Fall 2010!
Meet Our Students:
Singing, dancing and acting have been my passions basically from birth. According to my family, I was trying to sing before I could talk and I learned that I could shake my hips shortly after learning to walk. Unfortunately, because of location and timing, I never could thoroughly indulge my theatre itch until I joined ATP. I’d heard about ATP from a co-worker, and after doing a bit of research I knew that ATP was the place for me. It was in the program that I learned stage combat, voice technique and had my first singing and dance lessons. Within the program I have gained skills not only useful to the stage, but for life. The thing I love the most about ATP is the wonderful support group of classmates and teachers. You feel free to “dare to be a dork” and know that your imagination makes the impossible, possible. I got pulled into the theatre department at Fairfield High School toward the end of my freshmen year and from then on I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in acting. My first year at Solano Community College I decided to audition for “The Talented Mr. Ripley” on a whim, and I was very surprised I got in. The following fall semester I auditioned and was accepted in the Actor Training Program. I love the instructors and the variety of classes that are being offered to us such as Voice, Dance, Singing, Scene Study and many more. I never really considered myself to be a dancer but found Ballet, Jazz and Tap to be some of my favorite classes. In this program I am obtaining valuable information from experienced professionals that will help me enter and succeed in the world of acting. – Zachary Scovel class of 2011SCT:Much Ado About Nothing, The Talented Mr. Ripley
