Solano College Theatre Announces 2010/2011 Season!
Our new line up of shows offers something for everyone, from favorite classics to the latest cutting-edge drama. With reduced ticket and subscription prices, choose-your-own subscriber packages and a family-friendly season featuring both Solano College Theatre and Solano Youth Theatre talent, now is the perfect time to join SCT's family!
Our journey begins in New York City with the international phenomenon Rent. Eight friends are living the Bohemian life, struggling to express themselves through their art and "measuring their lives in love." Against the gritty backdrop of the East Village, these friends strive for success and acceptance while enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic. Rated PG-13, Rent is directed by Hector Correa with musical direction by Joseph Anderson and choreography by Fae Salfiti.
Just in time for Halloween, travel to Edwardian England. Walk with us through the fog-shrouded streets of London for Bram Stoker's Dracula, directed by Daren A.C. Carollo. When the mysterious Count Dracula takes an interest in the beautiful, young Lucy who suffers from horrific dreams and a strange illness, he arouses the suspicions of her fiance` Jonathan Harker and Professor Abraham Van Helsing. Following a series of unexplained occurrences, the men fear Dracula may be one of the undead that prowls the darkness and preys upon innocent souls. Dracula is rated PG.
In the New Year, we'll return to New York City for a visit with the world's favorite orphan, Annie. Daddy Warbucks and his loyal secretary Grace are determined to find Little Orphan Annie's long lost parents. When they offer reward money for information leading them to the couple, the mistress of the orphanage, Miss Hannigan, helps her shady nephew Rooster and his girlfriend Lily pose as Annie's parents. Rated G, Annie is directed by Robin Stanton.
Next, we'll travel with Orpheus into the underworld in search of his lost love, in Sarah Ruhl's compelling re-imagining of Eurydice, directed by George Maguire. On the day Eurydice is to marry her true love Orpheus, a tragic misstep sends her plummeting to the surreal depths of the underworld. Memories are forbidden in this world, but an unexpected reunion with her father vividly awakens Eurydice's mind with the love she felt in life. When Orpheus braves the gates of the abyss to find her and mesmerizes the Underworld with his sublime music, Eurydice must decide between her father or her Earthly love, between life and death. Eurydice is rated PG.
After crossing the River Styx, what's left to do but head over the rainbow? Our final destination of the season lies in the wonderful Land of Oz. Swept up in the turbulent core of a tornado, Dorothy Gale is transported from her home in Kansas to the magical Oz. There, she meets the steadfast friends that will help her find The Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz. It seems that he alone can help her find her way back home. Directed by Holli Hornlien, The Wizard of Oz is rated G.
2010/2011 season subscriptions are now on sale! Theatregoers have the option of subscribing to any three, four or all five of the productions. Special senior, military, student and child subscription plans are also available.
Subscribers save approximately 25% off single-ticket prices while enjoying the benefits of preferred seating, ticket exchange, exclusive invitations to special events and much more. Subscription package prices range from just $30-$75. Single ticket prices range from $13-$20.
